GRAPHITE RUPTURE DISKS
ZOOK Graphite Rupture disks are made from a single piece of graphite, a high-purity form of carbon,
which is impregnated with phenolic resin. The resulting material, called impervious graphite, is
impermeable and is resistant to most corrosives.
MONO TYPE DISKS
- Best choice for low and intermediate burst ratings
- Mounts directly between standard ASME B16.5 flanges
- Process pressure is applied to the counterbore
side of the rupture disk - Operate up to 90% of marked burst pressure
- Vacuum supports are available for ratings below
25 psig - Stocked ratings are available for immediate shipment
- ASME UD marking available
INVERTED TYPE DISKS
-
Best choice for higher burst rating
-
Mounts directly between standard
ASME B16.5 flanges -
Process pressure is applied to
the flat side of the rupture disk -
Operate up to 90% of marked burst
pressure -
Stocked ratings are available for
immediate shipment -
ASME UD marking available
DUPLEX TYPE DISKS
-
Best choice for applications involving
highly oxidizing agents and halogens -
Mounts directly between standard
ASME B16.5 flanges -
Disks extend corrosion resistance
by utilizing a liner on the flat surface of the
disk that contacts the process media -
Operate up to 90% of marked burst
pressure -
External type vacuum supports are
available for vacuum service - ASME UD marking available
TWO-WAY TYPE DISKS
- Dual rated to protect against two different pressures
in opposite directions - Mounts directly between standard ASME B16.5 flanges
- Applications include protection of storage tanks
against both excess vacuum and overpressure when single
vessel entry is required - Operate up to 90% of marked burst pressure
- Furnished standard with Carbon steel armor and
TFE gaskets
INSULATED UNIT
- For temperatures exceeding 430°F (221°C)
to 700°F (371°C) - Furnished as an attached unit. Disk’s nameplate
rating must be established at the cold face temperature
of the insulation - NOT available for TWO-WAY Disks or disks with ring
or plate vacuum supports - Insulated Units are supplied armored with -required
insulation and gaskets for service above 430°F
(221°C) to 700°F (371°C). Standard armor
is carbon steel, gaskets are non-asbestos, and insulation
is spun alumina/silica. This insulation prohibits
use with liquids and some corrosives. - Other materials are available upon request
RA SERIES REVERSE-ACTING RUPTURE DISK SYSTEM
The RA Series offers a single unique pre-torque holder design for use with multiple types of ZOOK Reverse-Acting metal rupture disks.
RAH PRE-TORQUE RUPTURE DISK HOLDER
- Pre-Torque Design allows
…pre-assembly of a rupture disk into a holder
prior to field installation
…removal of the assembly from the piping system
for inspection without disturbing the seal integrity
of the Rupture Disk
…mounting between soft or fragile material
flanges (PVC, Glass, etc.) and sealed by using a
soft gasket material with low torque on the
companion flange boltingBest choice for low and
intermediate burst ratings - Mounts directly between standard ASME B16.5,
PN, or JIS flanges - Sizes 1” thru 12”
- Standard Holder Materials: Carbon Steel, 316SS,
Hastelloy
RA4 SERIES RUPTURE DISK
- Solid metal Scoreless disk designed for Non-
Fragmentation - Best choice for Low range of burst ratings (3psi to
40 psi) - Operating ratios up to 90% of the low end of burst
tolerance - ASME UD, CE, and TUV compliance available
(Liquid and Gas Service)
RA6 SERIES RUPTURE DISK
- Solid metal Scoreless disk designed for Non-
Fragmentation - Best choice for Intermediate range of burst
ratings (12psi to 200 psi) - Standard operating ratio of 90% of the marked
rating on disk tag. (Higher operating ratio
available upon request) - ASME UD, CE, and TUV compliance available
(Liquid and Gas Service)
RA8 SERIES RUPTURE DISK
- Solid metal Scoreless disk designed for Non-
Fragmentation - Best choice for Upper range of burst ratings (26psi
to 1000 psi) - Standard operating ratio of 90% of the marked
rating on disk tag. (Higher operating ratio
available upon request) - ASME UD, CE, and TUV compliance available
(Liquid and Gas Service)
RAX SERIES RUPTURE DISK
- Solid metal Cross-Scored disk designed for Non-
Fragmentation - Best choice for Upper range of burst ratings (27psi
to 1000 psi) - Standard operating ratio of 90% of the marked
rating on disk tag. (Higher operating ratio
available upon request) - ASME UD, CE, and TUV compliance available (GAS
SERVICE ONLY)
REVERSE ACTING RUPTURE DISKS
ZOOK Reverse Acting rupture disks offer revolutionary new scoreless and scored nonfragmenting
designs for universal use – new ultra low ratings – 90% operating ratios.
